Eastlake Cohousing (aka North Oakland Cohousing) has found a site!

We're making an offer on an apartment complex with a lovely courtyard, just southeast of Lake Merritt at 1523 and 1537 8^th Ave. This is the time to secure a spot in our group at the early price.

Our Vision

We are an urban, multi-generational cohousing community where children, feasts, fun and solitude gracefully co-exist.

We live in cooperation, caring for one another, our neighbors and the earth.

We welcome diversity, strive to communicate compassionately, and work together to sustain a network of warm, lasting relationships.

Our Concept

We're planning to buy an apartment complex. In today's market, that's what's affordable. We've found an existing building with a design that encourages interaction and has room for a common house. What is Cohousing?

Cohousing is a great way to build community and neighborhood, while maintaining independence. Every household has a complete apartment, and there are also shared spaces, including a common house with areas for common meals, play and guest rooms. Why the name change?

Our legal name is still North Oakland Cohousing, because that was the location of our original site. Our new site in the Eastlake neighborhood of Oakland.
